HT board member @tschwalbe recently worked with member @meadowridgealpacas to host a free felting workshop at Prairie Haus in New Glarus. All attendees were able to learn about felting and make their own felted soaps thanks to generous donations and leftover rovings from our last stash swap.
Prairie Haus is an innovative affordable housing concept designed to address the needs of a growing workforce population while integrating independent living apartments for residents with disabilities.

We hope to see you at the @wilmarneighborhoodcenter on Saturday, Oct 22 from 1-3. You do not need to be a member to attend, and you do not need to be bringing anything to give away in order to attend.
If you are giving away, bring anything fiber arts related that you would be happy to send to a new home – spinning fiber, yarn, fleece, needles, hooks, drop spindles, notions, weaving supplies, patterns, felting supplies, or whatever. Oddball leftovers from projects? Supplies for a craft that didn’t click with you? Fiber that seemed like a good idea at the time? Supplies someone asked if you wanted and you said yes because you didn’t want to see them in a landfill? Bring them all!
Respect intellectual property rights of designers; if offering patterns, the copy you bring with should be your only copy.

Reposted from @lindadeederrickson One down and one to go. Am entering this fingerless mitt in the #fieldtofingers2022 challenge. Entries due Dec 1st, so plenty of time to make #2. My yarn is natural fibers, purchased at a local thrift store (Vinnies). Had to sort through bags and bags of synthetic yarn to find this wool and mohair yarn.
I’m not a skilled knitter, so don’t do challenging patterns. I create visual interest by striping the basic stockinette stitch. Great way to use up leftover bits of yarn.
Free prizes for entries, but I’m not eligible cause I’m president of the non-profit sponsor, Heartland Threads, a FIBERSHED in SW Wisconsin and NW Illinois. Can’t wait to see what all you instagrammers make. Don’t knit? Any method is good—crocheted, felted, woven, visibly mended, something else?
